Current Projects

At Starr Kitchens, we specialize in custom remodeling.  We treat every project

as though it were a one-of-a-kind remodel.  Every customer has his or her own

tastes and style, and so should their home!  Our initial consultation is free, so call us,

today, to schedule a personalized meeting with our company owner and our senior

design specialist at our showroom, in Kalamazoo.

In spite of the "slow" economy, Starr is very busy this year.  One of the main

reasons we are experiencing such a high volume of work is due to the way we

deal with our customers.  We strive to impress, not merely satisfy our customers!

We can make suggestions, and help guide you in the decision making process.

But, in the end, it is your home, and we want you to be very happy with the

decisions you make and Starr Kitchens helps to implement.

These photos are from one of our current customers' home.  When they came to

Starr Kitchens, they had an idea of the basic "look" they wanted to have for their new

kitchen.  However, they needed help with deciding on the cabinet style and finish,

along with the countertop material and pattern.  We suggested LaFata custom

cabinets with maple "shaker" style doors and a warm Blossom finish.  For the

countertops, they chose Cambria quartz in the Sussex pattern.

We eliminated one window, which allowed us to reconfigure their kitchen and provide

much more countertop space.  We also reconfigured their tall kitchen windows to accommodate the new design.  The biggest change is the large opening we created in

the wall between the kitchen and the dining room.  This allowed us to create a much

more open space in place of the small, segmented rooms.  The finishing touch is the pendent lights which hang above the spacious eating bar.

A large portion of our current work is for repeat customers.  Take

for example one of our recent customers whose home is located on Lake Michigan.

Their home has been in the family for many years, but they wanted to update the entire space.  We basically "gutted" their home, reconfigured the entryways, the kitchen and

the bathrooms.  The exterior maintained its original cedar shake finish, but the entire

interior is all new, with beautiful contemporary styling throughout!

The old, cramped kitchen was removed.  The wall between the kitchen and living area

was removed to create a much more open feeling to continue the open feel of the Lake Michigan lake shore.  The kitchen cabinetry was provided through LaFata Cabinetry, made

in Michigan!  The countertops are a combination of Cambria quartz on the island and elevated bar, with the remainder finished with Wilsonart Laminate.  The floor and stairway

in the upper level were finished with Bamboo, which is a "green" material!

Kitchen and bathroom remodeling is our expertise.  However, paired with our parent company, Starr Construction, we can design and remodel any room of your home.

The pictures, below, were taken of a home we recently remodeled for a client.  The home

had been vacant for 5 years, and needed substantial work.  We reconfigured the main bathroom, added closets, built a kitchen addition, finished the basement, replaced the windows, re-shingled the entire home and finished it off with new vinyl siding.

The finished basement has new carpeting, new ceiling tiles and a new bathroom.
